University of North Dakota
The University of North Dakota is a public research university in urban Grand Forks, North Dakota. It is the state’s oldest university with 11,200 undergraduate students and approximately 3,400 graduate students. The school competes in the NCAA Division I conference and they are a part of the Big Sky Conference. Their men’s hockey team has been ranked as one of the best for quite some time and the mascot is the Fighting Hawk.
Famous "Fighting Hawk" alumni include T.J. Oshie - hockey player (Washington Capitals), Karen Nyberg - NASA astronaut, Sam Anderson - actor, Zach Parise - hockey player (Minnesota Wild), and Phil Jackson - former basketball player.
