We are so excited to share our latest inside scoops for Cape Cod from our Guest Editor, Delaney Flinn. If you are planning a trip or even thinking about a trip to Cape Cod this summer, take a look at some of Delaney’s favorite spots in and around Cape Cod with a favorite or two from Nantucket thrown in!
I am currently a Client Service Intern at MKTG in NYC this summer which is a lot of fun but it’s a different summer compared to my past summers waitressing on Cape Cod. I attend the University of Richmond where I am a Business student and enjoy coaching lacrosse/field hockey and enjoying time with friends!
I have been spending my summers in West Dennis, Massachusetts my entire life and now I am lucky enough to call it “home”. West Dennis is a small town but has a lot to offer. They have a great beach, great bars/restaurants, and great people. It is in a perfect location and practically in the middle of everything. I honestly couldn’t imagine spending summer anywhere else.
Chatham Candy Manor: Chatham candy manor offers many different sweets in the heart of Chatham. You can’t go wrong with any of their fudge flavors.
The Pie Stand: A little stand on Main street in Dennis offers some amazing homemade Pies. The Blueberry pie is out of this world. Drive slowly or you’ll pass it!
Buffy’s Ice Cream: One of the many ice cream places on Cape Cod, however, they stand out with their pink “jimmies”. Their pink jimmies on top of some mocha chip ice cream is a great way to end the day.
Cape Cod Creamery: Love their ice cream!
Sundae School: A Cape Cod favorite!
Aunt Leah’s: Tucked back is the best fudge store I have ever been to. The M&M chocolate fudge is unbelievable. I love it so much, my mom ordered it for one of my Christmas presents.
Good Friends Cafe: A small but great local breakfast spot that is famous for their homemade Oreo bread. Their homemade Belgian waffle is known as the Red White and Blue waffle and trust me, you will not be disappointed.
Sand Bar: The Sand bar offers a unique restaurant/bar atmosphere in the marshes of the Bass River. They offer various quick bites but my personal favorite is the classic Lobster Roll.
Ember: Ember (where I used to work) has an excellent coal fire oven where they offer unique pizzas like the Pulled Pork Pizza! Outside they have a big fire pit and an outdoor bar which is always packed at night!
Beer Garden/Perks Coffee Shop: The Beer Garden, also known as Perks coffee shop serves great coffee and breakfast treats in the morning then switches to offer their customers a hopping outdoor bar at night with live music and corn hole. Definitely, a place to stop by for a drink!
Bluefin sushi: Blue Fin Sushi, one of the few sushi places on the Cape, offers a long list of specialty rolls but the Cape Cod Monster tops them all. Dinner reservations are recommended.
Pisces: A tiny little restaurant off Route 28 offers some amazing food but make sure you save room for their famous Tres Leche’s Cake. Dinner reservations are highly recommended!
Skipper: A two-story restaurant across from the water has some world-famous Clam Chowder that lives up to its reputation.
LOLA 41: An unbelievable restaurant in Nantucket. Get the sushi and the truffle fries, you won’t be disappointed.
Things to do:
Beach: Crows Pasture in East Dennis is one of the only beaches that allows you to drive your car onto the beach. The path to get there is very cool too.
Scargo Tower: Climb up the tower to get great views of Scargo Lake that is shaped like a fish!
Mashpee Commons: Spend a day shopping at Mashpee Commons.
My summer 2017 Bucket list:
10 Yen : A new sushi place that has opened in Harwich Port. From what I heard the fish is fresh and amazing.
Mad Minnow: (located behind 10 yen, access it from parking lot). Another semi-new restaurant in Harwich Port that puts a cool spin on food and their drinks.
